Rajasthan is a very colorful place. And when it comes to the winter festival of Mt Abu, the colors just splash up to life.
Every year in the last week of December, the winter festival is held in Mt Abu. It is organized by the municipal board of Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan tourism for the sole reason of attracting people and giving a break to the locals from everyday monotony.
This three day long festival generally starts from the RTDC hotel and proceeds further along the hill.
The main reason for its worldwide fame is the locals are excellent and their hospitality is very warm. The colorful culture of Rajasthan and the heavenly location also add to the overall attraction.
The procession ends at the Nakki Lake Chowk. Besides the magnificent procession, the folk dances and songs performed by the troupes of the nearby states like Punjab, Gujarat are also worth a look.
Water sports are held in the lake itself. Rowing competitions are organized. Among other sports, cricket matches are played.
The last day of the festival is made brighter by the splendid firework display. These fireworks end the festival.

I have always wanted to visit Rajasthan. I have heard that many festivals take place there. But I was totally unaware of such a grand festival. I would definitely be visiting Rajasthan this winter, to enjoy this festival. After all winter is a great time to enjoy festivities.
