The state Rajasthan is famous for its colourful celebrations, music, dance and festival which make it one of the most attractive destinations in the world. Rajasthan has numerous fairs and festivals like animal fairs,religious fairs and there are fairs to mark the changing seasons.
The festival are usually marked by folk-dance accompanied by music played on a variety of locally- made instuments. The costumes of the Participitants are made in their traditional colorful dress. colour, rhythm and melody blend the Rajasthani festival in a unique manner providing a veritable feast.
Some of the colourful fairs and festivals of Rajasthan are :
Puskar Fair:

Puskar is internationally framed for its huge Camel and Cattle Fair. During the fair, Rajasthani tribals, Indian pilgrims, filmmakers and tourists from all over the world gather here. If you are anywhere near striking distance at the time it’s an event not to be missed.
Mewar Festival

The Mewar Festival of Udaipur welcomes spring, offering the best overview of Rajasthani culture through songs, dances, processions, devotional music and firework displays. The Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur in Udaipur , and has a unique charm about it. The women folk gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city.
Desert Festival

The Jaisalmer Desert Festival has now become a calender event which is organised by Rajasthan Tourism and Development Corporation every year in the month of February. Jaisalmer is the only place where this rajasthan desert festival is celebrated with great zest and zeal. Rajasthan being a popular tourist destination, the festival adds to its colorThis festival is held once a year during winters . Dressed in brilliantly hued costumes, the people of the desert dance and sing haunting ballads of valor, romance and tragedy. The fair has snake charmers, puppeteers, acrobats and folk performers. Camels, of course, play a stellar role in this festival, where the rich and colorful folk culture of Rajasthan is on show.
The Gangaur Festival
The Gangur Festival is also one of the most famous local festival of Rajatshan. It was the celebration of the women of Rajasthan done throught out the state to worship Gauri, the consort of Loerd Shive and the manifestations of goddess Parvati. It symbolizes maritial happininess and as well the monsoon and well harvest in the place.
The Festival begins on the first day of Chitra and goes on for 18 days. During this festivals the newly married women observe the 18 days of the festival to ensure the success in marriage for their rest of the life. The unmarried women fast and eat only one meal daily for 18 days in order to get a good husband and to be happy in their married life after. Its all the rituals belief and the faith of the Rajasthani women and so they used to enjoy this Gangur Festival.
For the Celebration the images of Gouri and made up of clay. There are families who used to made those idols traditionaly for the years after years. There are also some reputed bigger and richer families in where there are the permanent wooden images in their house and they used to make it paint by the matherans or the reputed painters of the state during the eve of the festivals. The ladies decorate their hands and feet by drawing pictures of the sun, moon, stars, flowers, and other geometrical designs using a myrtle paste.
